My Sports Opinion for this morning:

UNC Football hires 6x NFL Super Bowl Winning Head Coach Bill Belichick as their new Head Coach!

Yesterday, the University of North Carolina announced that Bill He will be replacing the position of the fired Mack Brown, who went 44-33 in 6 seasons with the Tar Heels and previously won a national championship with the Texas Longhorns in 2005 with quarterback Vince Young. Belichick will be the new Head Coach of their football program. Belichick is known for coaching the NFL’s New England Patriots dynasty team from 2000-2023. He won his first championship game with the team in 2001, then went back to back in ‘01-‘02, and then won his final 3 in ‘14,’16,’18. It was after the 2019 season and his hall-of-fame quarterback Tom Brady leaving to take the starting job at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and winning his 7th Super Bowl that football fans began seeing the decline of the Belichick Era in New England as a foreseeable future. Having gone two straight seasons with a losing record and a quarterback in Mac Jones, 1st round draft choice out of Alabama, not living up to expectations, he saw the times coming for him to step aside. We hadn’t seen or really heard from Belichick until roughly a week ago when rumors about his return to coaching were becoming a real possibility, but not in the NFL but at the collegiate level. The North Carolina Tar Heels aren’t generally known for their football program as they are really a basketball school. Still, they are hopeful that with Belichick’s knowledge of the game, he’ll be able to turn things around for a team that hasn’t been on the winning side in the ACC in recent seasons. Now let me get into my thoughts about this hiring…this is a terrible hire! Belichick has no experience in head coaching college kids and the college football business. Now, I’m sure many of you will read this blog post and think, "Well, Deion Sanders made it work at Colorado, and Jim Harbaugh made it work at Stanford and Michigan! Why don’t you think Belichick will have the same success?" Put Deion Sanders and Jim Harbaugh had the best personalities of anyone to relate to college athletes, and Belichick has no personality whatsoever! He’s signed for a 5-year $50 million contract and making $10 million annually. This will be a terrible decision for the university, and Belichick will probably need to ride off into the sunset or wait until an NFL team reaches out to him for help.
